Sacral Chakra Practices
Dr. Susan Shumsky writes that the svadhishthana (2nd chakra) is “commonly called the pelvic or sex chakra, it is the seat of the subconscious mind, ruled by the Moon, sphere of emotion and procreation. Its esoteric color is orange and its day of the week is Monday. Its astrological house is the fourth house of fecundity, nourishment, and motherhood, ruled by the sign of Cancer” (S. Shumsky, p. 133, 2014).
I absolutely love her affirmations that she weaves throughout her book, The Power of Charkas. For this particular chakra, she recommends practicing ashivini mudra, ustrasana, matsyasana, and bhujangasana.
Also, what I found interesting was that Rakini is a symbol who holds a trident in one hand that “represents three spiritual disciplines:
1. Discipline of prana through breathing. Exercises (pranayama).
2. Discipline of the senses through reversing their outward direction and turning inward (pratyahara).
3. Discipline of the mind through one-pointed meditation (dharana).”
(S. Shumsky p. 138, 2014).
My tip to you is to get some breathwork in today! I personally love fists of anger, alternate nostril breathing, and meditation for a calm heart.
